Shot selection
We have chosen several shots based on our knowledge of zombie comedy movies. We have used a combination of close ups, and high and low angled shots.
Our opening shot is a extreme close up of our main characters eyes. This shot comes immediately after a black screen with heavy breathing. The immediate reaction, with some motion blur, tells the audience that this character is not in a normal state of mind. We also use a handheld camera close up of our character walking down the stairs to further emphasize this thought. Also their is a large use of close ups in horror/ zombie comedy. We have further mirrored this shot when introduced to the zombie face to face for the first time. This is similar to a shot in "Shaun of the Dead" when Shaun is first confronted face to face with a zombie.
We have also used several high and low angled shots, to add another element to our film that coheres with the zombie movie conventions.

Rough Cut Progress
We have just finished our rough cut of our final project. Overall we are very pleased with our first cut, however we have found that for our film to make complete sense that we must film 3 more shots to show the characters movement from the office to the toilets. We have also decided that on our opening shots we may apply some motion blur to emphasize the characters intoxication.

Filming
On the 29th of January we started filming for our film. For our first shots we decided to use a staircase in the visual arts block. We used a handheld close up shot of matts face to show the drunken motion that our character goes through at the beginning of our film. We also used this technique once more for our "zombie vision". This is to create tension and mystery that surrounds our zombie character. For our office shots we chose a small office interior which signifies the ordinary work environment that our characters work in. This helps emphasize the shock of the zombie attack. We shot all of our shots of the cast, excluding the zombie.
The only shots that we have missing as of 29/01/09 are:
"Zombie Vision" shots.
The Zombie Attack.
The Dramatic Tea making scene.
Project as of now
For todays lessons we are currently editing the film that we have uploaded, though the whole film is not complete. We are cutting in some film that Billy shot at home with the film we shot in college. We plan to also get some more filming done if we can.
We also created a soundtrack for our early animatic on the Mac program 'Soundtrack' yesterday; utilizing a deep, progressive bass-line and orchestral violins to build tension mixed with a eerie and gothic organ. We all feel very happy with the outcome of our animatic soundtrack as it gives a very traditional horror film theme, yet has a comedy edge to it, capturing the genre we are aiming for perfectly. We will more than likely use this as either a blueprint for the final piece of music or actually incorporate it as it is.
